Amazon has announced an additional US$13 billion investment in India to expand its AI and cloud infrastructure, increasing its total planned investment in the country to more than US$88 billion. The investment will primarily enhance AWS data center capacity in Mumbai and Hyderabad, providing advanced cloud services, AI infrastructure, and computing resources for enterprises, startups, and government organizations.
Alongside its AI expansion, Amazon is continuing to strengthen its logistics and procurement network by opening 20 new fulfillment centers and more than 100 last-mile delivery stations across Tier 3 and Tier 4 cities during 2026. These investments are expected to improve procurement efficiency, accelerate deliveries, and support India's growing e-commerce and supply chain ecosystem.
Amazon CEO Andy Jassy stated that the company's investment strategy aligns with India's goals of expanding AI access, digitizing businesses, creating jobs, and supporting exports. The initiative also reinforces Amazon's long-term commitment to India's digital economy and growing role as a global technology and supply chain hub.

Amazon's continued investment demonstrates how AI infrastructure, cloud computing, and logistics have become closely connected to modern procurement strategies. By expanding both its technology platforms and physical fulfillment network, Amazon is strengthening the digital foundation that enables faster purchasing decisions, better supply chain visibility, and more efficient operations.
For procurement leaders, the announcement reflects a broader trend in which investments in AI and cloud infrastructure are becoming strategic enablers of procurement transformation. Organizations operating in India are likely to benefit from improved digital capabilities, greater scalability, and enhanced access to AI-powered procurement and supply chain solutions.
